Construction in U.S. still well below 2005 peak

U.S. (Notifix) – Housing starts in the US reached 2.07 million units in 2005 compared to 781 thousand units in 2012.

 This represents a 165% fall from the peak reached prior to the great recession of 2008 and 2012. In March of this year for the first time since 2008 housing starts on a seasonally adjusted annual rate reached 1 million units and consulting firm Cambridge Forest Products Associates, forecasts housing starts to total 1.06 million in 2013 (36% above 2012), to climb to 1.45 million in 2014 and to reach the 1.60 million level in 2015.
