PERU – In January 2020, Peruvian imports of particleboard / MDP (PB / MDP) amounted to USD 9.07 million, which represented a strong increase of 40.4 percent compared to the same month of 2019 (USD 6.46 million).
With a two digit growth (18.8 percent) and USD 3.49 million (2019: USD 2.94 million), Ecuador stood out again as the main supplier country of PB / MDP for the Peruvian market.
Chile, with a 72.7 percent recovery in January, maintained its position as the second supplier country of PB / MDP to Peru with shipments for USD 2.05 million (January 2019: USD 1.18 million).
Spain with USD 1.86 million (2019: USD 0.91 million) and a strong improvement 103.6 percent was the third supplier country. With a 24.6 percent improvement in January, Brazil was the fourth supplier country, reaching USD 1.61 million (January 2019: USD 1.29 million).
The main importing company in Peru in the first month of 2020 was once again Novopan Peru, with USD 3.33 million (2019: USD 2.94 million), which represented a double-digit increase (13.2 percent) and a 36.7 per percent share of the total imports of the country in the month. This represents a loss of 8.8 percentage points compared to 2019 share of imports (45.5 percent share).
The second importing company was Representaciones Martín with USD 1.79 million, a growth of 117.0 percent and a participation of 19.8 percent of the total imported value in January (2019: 9.1 percent share).
Maderas América was the importing company with the highest growth in January (170.7 percent), going from USD 0.29 million registered in first month 2019 to USD 0.79 million in same month 2020.
