SPAIN – The National Association of Furniture Industrialists and Exporters of Spain (ANIEME) has presented the report on the results of the foreign trade of the Spanish furniture sector for the year 2019.
The most important fact of the document is that, at the national level, Spanish furniture exports show a growth of 4.7 percent, exceeding 2,318 million euros.
During 2019, Spain imported furniture worth 3,180 million euros, representing an increase of 3.4 percent compared to 2018. With this data the Spanish furniture sectoral shows a deficit of 861 million euros, placing the coverage rate at 72.9 percent.
It is important to highlight the growth of the markets of Portugal, Italy and Morocco, which have increased their imports of Spanish furniture in 2019 to more than two digits.
Among the European countries, France, Portugal, Germany and the United Kingdom total 53.5 percent of Spanish furniture exports, more than half of the total exported, and are among the main destinations of Spanish furniture during the year 2019.
Especially noteworthy is the growth of Portugal (+ 17.5%), which becomes the 2nd destination of Spanish furniture exports worldwide, ahead of the United Kingdom, a country that increases its purchases of Spanish furniture by 4.3 percent. This fact reflects that, at the end of fiscal year 2019, Brexit has not yet negatively affected Spanish furniture exports, as it has happened with other consumer products.
