BRAZIL (Notifix) – The German manufacturer of decorative papers, Interprint, announced the installation of a printing facility in the region of Curitiba, Brazil.

Construction will start later this year and it is expected to begin operations in the last quarter of 2014 with two printing lines and by the first half of 2015, have installed the first impregnation line. The investment is valued at €35 million.

The plant will initially occupy an area of 10,000 m2 and according to the company plans, gradually expand to complete 35,000 m2, with the possibility of becoming the largest plant in the group. Accordingly, the Company has acquired a 70,000 m2 site in São José dos Pinhais (PR).

Lourdes Manzanares, Commercial Director South America for Interprint AG, pointed out in a statement to Notifix the benefits that this plant will provide to the industry in the region. Among them “Digital Colour Matching”, a digital printing match technology using the same inks and base papers that are used on their roto engraving production machines that guarantees no color difference between both processes. This process that only takes a couple of hours is a great advantage to streamline and ensure the development of customer-requested designs.

Regarding the importance of this strategic investment of Interprint in South America and its relationship with the two largest importers of decorative papers in the Andean region, Colombia and Ecuador, Lourdes Manzanares said, “Interprint is present in Colombia for many years now. Since we installed our sales office for South America in Brazil, our position in the Colombian market has become much stronger and we have become a partner for all market players. We are also pushing our efforts very hard on the Ecuadorian market, and now with our new plans of impregnation in the near future, we are also consolidating our position there.”
