MEXICO – Walmart from Mexico and Central America (Walmex) opened 134 stores in 25 states of the Mexican Republic, generating more than 5,000 permanent jobs in the country.
The states in which the openings were held were: Aguascalientes (6), Baja California Sur (3), Chiapas (6), Chihuahua (1), Mexico City (9), Coahuila (3), Durango (2), State of Mexico (9), Guanajuato (6), Guerrero (1), Hidalgo (5), Jalisco (18), Michoacán ( 2), Morelos (1), Nayarit (1), Nuevo León (28), Oaxaca (1), Puebla (5), Querétaro (5), San Luis Potosío (4), Sonora (4), Tamaulipas (7), Veracruz (2), Yucatan (1) and Zacatecas (4).
“Opening 134 stores of our Superama, Walmart and Bodega Aurrera formats during 2019 allowed us to bring our lower prices closer to Mexican families, as well as fostering the growth and development of the country and giving employment opportunities to more than 5,000 Mexican. We will continue to work for the well-being of the communities where we have a presence,” said Gabriela Buenrostro Ortega, spokesperson of Walmart from Mexico and Central America.
As for the formats of the openings, these were distributed as follows: 21 Bodega Aurrera, 75 Bodega Aurrera Express, 30 Mi Bodega, 6 Walmart and 2 Superama.
