GERMANY – The Homag Group is celebrating the “Factory of the Year 2019” award in the ‘Outstanding small series production’ category presented to Homag Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH at the Holzbronn location.

This commendation is awarded annually by the consulting firm AT Kearney in cooperation with the specialist newspaper Produktion. It honors companies from the manufacturing industry who master change processes in an exemplary manner. The award ceremony will take place in March 2020.

For Homag Plattenaufteiltechnik in Holzbronn, it was the first participation in this industry competition, which is one of the most prestigious in Europe. “The fact that we land among the winners the very first time surprised us,” said Florian Kälber, who initiated the competition entry of the Homag site in Holzbronn. The main prize went to Mercedes-AMG, in addition to the Homag panel sizing technology other recognized companies were Continental, Brose, Voith and Kärcher.

The audit experts from AT Kearney know – just like the jury of the competition, which is composed of well-known experts from industry and science – that lean culture and continuous improvement can not be prescribed, but must be actively practiced by all employees at the respective location.

“We are very pleased that in comparison with the best, we have been voted number 1 in the category of outstanding small batch production”, said Jens Held, site manager of Homag Plattenaufteiltechnik in Holzbronn.
