Peruvian particleboard imports up 2.3% in 9M-2019

PERU – In the January – September 2019 (9M-2019) period, Peruvian imports of PB / MDP amounted to USD 79.08 million, which represented an increase of 2.3 percent compared to the same period of 2018 (9M-2018: USD 77.32 million).

856PERU1 With a significant growth of 19.3 percent and USD 35.65 million (9M-2018: USD 29.87 million), Ecuador stood out in the first nine months of 2019 as the main PB / MDP supplier country to the relevant Peruvian market. Chile, despite a very sharp drop (-28.5%) in its shipments to Peru during the first nine months of 2019, maintained its position as the second supplying country with shipments for USD 16.73 million (9M-2018: USD 23.41 million). Spain, with USD 13.74 million (9M-2018: USD 12.55 million), was the third supplying country in the period. With an increase of 8.6 percent, Brazil was the fourth supplier country, reaching USD 11.57 million (9M-2018: USD 10.65 million).

The main importing company in the first nine months of 2019 was once again Novopan Peru, with USD 35.47 million (9M-2018: USD 29.17 million). Which represented a significant increase of 21.6 percent and a 44.9 percent share of total imports of PB / MDP of the country in the period, an increase of 7.1 percentage points compared to 9M-2018 (37.7 percent share).

The second leading importing company was Representaciones Martín with USD 12.81 million, a growth of 6.3 percent and a 16.2 percent share of the total value imported in the period (9M-2018: 15.6 percent share).

Maderas América was the importing company with the highest growth (100.9 percent) in the period, going from USD 1.99 million in 9M-2018 to USD 4 million in 9M-2019.
