Peruvian particleboard imports up 13.3% in 5M-2019

PERU – In the January – May 2019 (5M-2019) period, Peruvian imports of PB / MDP amounted to USD 42.23 million, which represented an increase of 13.3 percent compared to the same period of 2018 (5M-2018: USD 37.26 million).

844PERU With a significant growth of 27.9 percent and USD 20.12 million (5M-2018: USD 15.73 million), Ecuador stood out in the first five months of 2019 as the main PB / MDP supplier country to the relevant Peruvian market. Chile, despite a sharp drop in its shipments to Peru (-23.2 percent), with USD 8.15 million (5M-2018: USD 10.61 million), remained the second supplying country of PB / MDP to Peru. Spain with USD 7.92 million (5M-2018: USD 6.12 million) was the third supplying country in the period. With an increase of 27.6 percent, Brazil was the fourth supplier country, reaching USD 5.70 million (5M-2018: USD 4.47 million).

The main importing company in the first five months of 2019 was once again Novopan Peru, with USD 19.99 million (5M-2018: USD 15.21 million). Which represented a significant increase of 31.4 percent and a 47.3 percent share of total imports of PB / MDP of the country in the period, an increase of 6.5 percentage points compared to 5M-2018 (40.8%).

It was followed by Representaciones Martín with USD 7.40 million, a growth of 28.4 percent and a 17.5 percent share of the total value imported in the period (5M-2018: 15.5 percent share). Maderas América was the importing company with the highest growth (253.2 percent in the period from USD 637 thousand registered in 5M-2018 to USD 2.24 million in 5M-2019.
