BRAZIL (Notifix) – In the January-July 2013 period, Brazilian furniture exports to Venezuela amounted to USD 5.6 million compared to USD 13.9 million in the same period of 2012, representing a drop of 59.5%. In contrast Peru became the fastest-growing market for Brazilian furniture makers
by reaching USD 22.1 million, an increase of 31.4% against the same period last year. Argentina continues as the region’s leading foreign markets for the Brazilian furniture industry with imports of USD 73.3 million compared to USD 70.0 in the same period of 2012 (+4.6%).
In total, the performance of the January – July 2013 period was very similar to the same period last year, USD 394.8 million in 2013 against USD 395.7 million in 2012 (-0.3%). The state of Rio Grande do Sul remained the main exporter state of furniture with USD 111.0 million (2012: USD 108.3 million), representing an increase of 2.5% over the same period last year and a share of 28.1 % of total exports.
