COLOMBIA – Colombian wooden furniture exports grew 37.7% in the first four months of 2019 (4M-2019) and reached USD 13.60 million compared to USD 9.88 million in 4M-2018.
Panama was again the main external destination for Colombian wooden furniture in 4M-2019 with USD 3.74 million up 18.1% compared to 4M-2018 (USD 3.16 million). The United States was the second external market in 4M-2019 with USD 3.35 million for an improvement of 69.3% compared to 4M-2018 (USD 1.98 million). Mexico followed with USD 2.87 million and was the fastest growing external market in 4M-2019 (+230.4%) compared to 4M-2018 (USD 870 thousand).
Muebles Jamar was the main wooden furniture exporting company in 4M-2019 with USD 2.78 million almost doubling its exports compared to 4M-2018 (USD 1.40 million), Jamar is a furniture retailer with a network of stores in Colombia and neighboring Panama. IMA (Industria de Artículos de Madera), a furniture manufacturer specialized in the hotel industry, was the second exporting company and had the largest growth (+641%) in 4M-2019 with USD 2.28 million (4M-2018: USD 307 thousand). With a drop of 4.7% in 4M-2019 RTA Muebles – Colombia’s largest RTA furniture manufacturer – was the third main exporting company with USD 2.22 million (4M-2018: USD 2.33 million). Inval (Industria de Muebles del Valle), a leading RTA furniture manufacturer, exported USD 1.14 million in 4M-2019 and was the fourth exporting company in the period.
