After the announcement of Masisa and Proteak, now the turn is for the leading manufacturer of boards in the country, Duraplay of Parral. The company will add to its production of chipboard, plywood and decorative surfaces, MDF production. With an investment of USD 80 million, the new plant will have an annual MDF production capacity of 200,000 m3 and will be installed in the company’s industrial complex in Chihuahua. The main supplier is Dieffenbacher GmbH from Germany and it is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2015. In this regard the company said, “The new plant will be a strong support for domestic furniture manufacturers who are currently forced to import this product with the inefficiencies and costs involved.” And added, “This investment reflects our confidence in the growth of the industry, so we are very pleased to give this news mainly to our customers, who can meet their MDF needs locally and reliable with the same quality and service Duraplay currently provides.”

Duraplay will use its existing infrastructure for the supply of raw material, using mostly pine varieties from natural forests that exist in their area of operation. In the future the company has planned the acquisition of forests to supplement their supply. The investment will be financed by Mexican and international banks, and structured by SAI Consultores SC, of Mexico City.
