USA – According to data published by FAO, in 2017 the global production of plywood panels hit a record number as it amounted to 160.57 million m3.
Over the course of a decade, performance by region was varied. In 2017 Asia was by far the main producing region with 132.79 million m3, which represented a growth of 113.3% compared to 62.25 million m3 produced in 2007. While the North American region, with 12.22 million m3 produced in 2017, observed in the course of a decade a fall of 20.3% as compared to the 15.34 million m3 produced in 2007. This strong contraction in North America is derived from the financial crisis of 2008.
