November: slight increase in Brazilian consumption of wooden panels

BRAZIL – In November 2018 the consumption of wooden panels in Brazil reached 621 thousand m3, a slight increase of 1.0% compared to November 2017 (614 thousand m3), according to IBA (Brazilian Tree Industry) monthly report.

816IBA In contrast, the volumes exported by Brazilian wood panel manufacturers grew considerably in November, 19.4%, reaching 111 thousand m3 compared to 93 thousand m3 exported in November 2017.

In the Brazilian domestic market, consolidated sales for the first 11 months of the year (11M) reached 6.21 million m3, an improvement of 4.3% compared to the same period of 2017 (5.96 million m3). Export values of Brazilian wooden panels in the first 11 months also show a positive result, growing 7.1% and reaching USD 285 million in the period (11M-2017: USD 266 million).

Latin America was the main regional export market for Brazilian wooden panels in the January-November 2018 period, with USD 161 million (11M-2017: USD 139 million), which represented an improvement of 15.8%. The North American market followed with USD 66 million, an improvement of 4.8% compared to the same period of 2017.
