Peruvian wooden furniture imports up 5.5% in 11M-2018

PERU – In the first 11 months of 2018 (11M-2018) Peruvian imports of wooden furniture reached USD 55.28 million, representing an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period of the previous year (11M-2017: USD 52.39 million).

815PERU1 Brazil was by far the main supplier country in 11M-2018 with USD 37.51 million, a figure that represented 67.8% of the total imported in 11M-2018. China followed with USD 6.08 million and Malaysia with USD 2.46 million.

The main importers of wooden furniture in Peru in 11M-2018 were Sodimac, Falabella Group’s home improvement chain, with USD 14.99 million and Peruvian Homecenters under its Promart banner, which reached USD 12.97 million.

The consolidated imports of these two home improvement retailers accounted for 50.5% of total wooden furniture imports to Peru.

The imports of Sodimac in 11M-2018 had a slight drop of 0.1% compared to the same period of the previous year (11M-2017: USD 15 million) while imports of Promart, had a significant increase of 18.4% in 11M-2018 compared to the same period of the previous year (11M-2017: USD 10.95 million).

Saga Falabella followed with USD 5.16 million, 20.4% below the figure reached in the same period of 2017 and Hipermercados Tottus with USD 3.7 million.
