MEXICO – At the close of the 3Q-2018 wood panel manufacturer Tecnotabla maintained the leading position in the Mexican MDF Market.
Tecnotabla sales volume in 3Q-2018 increased 19% compared to 3Q-2017, with an estimated market share of 23%. 3Q-2018 became the quarter with the highest quarterly sales of the year as a result of better sales management, an increase in volume, a mix of value-added products and exports.
MDF sales revenue during 3Q-2018 totaled MXP 269.9 million, 36% above 3Q-2017. In Q3-2018, value added products and exports reached 10% of Tecnotabla’s total sales, thus improving the overall product mix.
The previous results are supported by a three pronged strategy based on high-quality boards production, leading customer service levels and development of value-added products.
The Mexican MDF market continues developing. Based on internal analysis it is estimated that in 3Q-2018 the market reached one of its highest historical volumes due to dynamic imports and consistent national production. It is estimated that during 3Q-2018 imports increased 22% compared with the previous year, whilst local production is becoming more and more relevant.
