BRAZIL (Notifix).- In 2008, Brazilian panel consumption totalled 4.9 million cubic meters. Four years later, by the end of 2012 this figure totalled 6.9 million cubic meters, a 40.7% growth of Brazilian panel consumption
during a period when the population grew by only 1% (Population 2008 = 196.34 million, Population 2012 = 199.32 million)
In line with the global trend, the type of board that gained more ground was the MDF panel (Medium Density Fiberboard). In four years, Brazil went from consuming 2.3 million m3 of MDF, to consume 3.7 million m3. And while PB / MDP (Particle Board / Medium Density Particle Board) board consumption rose during the period from 2.6 million m3 in 2008 to 3.2 million m3 in 2012, its share of consumption fell from 54% in 2008 to 47% in 2012.
