ARGENTINA – With a turnover that exceeded 14,000 million Argentine pesos (ARS) in 2017, furniture e-commerce consolidated as one of the three most important categories in this sales channel, representing 9% of the total invoiced through e-commerce.
In 2017, according to data from the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE), e-commerce in all its categories grew by 52% compared to the previous year, totaling sales of ARS 156,300 million pesos, equivalent to 1.3 % of GDP, according to CACE estimations. 96 million products were sold through 60 million purchase orders, 28% more than in 2016, and at a rate of 263,000 products per day.
In invoicing, the most relevant categories were: Airplane tickets and tourism, ARS 43,638 million; Audio and image equipment and accessories (gaming consoles, computer technology and telephony): ARS 18,361 million and Household items (furniture and decoration): ARS 12,088 million.
In 2017, 11% of Internet users in Argentina bought at least once a week (this indicator was 7% in 2016), 35% at least once a month, and 54% once every six months.
