SPAIN – Garnica, the recognized Spanish manufacturer of plywood from sustainable wood, announced that it is finalizing the details for the start-up, in the second half of 2020, of the project for a new factory located in the French region of Grand-Est, a region of northeastern France with an abundance of poplar wood.

“We have carried out studies in order to ensure the viability and success of the project,” said Christian Michel, CEO of the group, adding that among the decision-making factors for the selection of the final location “the availability of materials in the area, the employability capacity, in addition to others, such as territorial connections or the dynamism of public services” have been assessed.

Garnica is the world leader in the production of poplar plywood from plantations and sustainable forests. With more than seven decades of experience in the industry, the company exports 93% of its production to more than 45 countries on all continents, with its main markets being Western Europe and the United States. It has six production centers and more than 1,050 employees. Its production model promotes plantations and sustainable forests as a source of raw material for its products.
