USA – The prestigious consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group, recently published a report on the top 100 Multilatina.

For the BCG, the multilatinas are Latin American companies that have revenues in excess of USD 1 billion per year and at least 10% of these coming from countries other than its headquarters. In addition, they have sales growth exceeding the GDP of the region.

BCG’s study shows that, between 2008 and 2016, sales of the multilatinas grew by 5.2% on average per year; triple that of their peers.

Among the top 100 Multilatinas are wood panel manufacturers Arauco (particleboard / MDP, MDF / HDF, hardboard and plywood), CMPC (plywood) and Duratex (particleboard / MDP and MDF / HDF).

Although Mexico, Brazil and Chile still have the highest number of multilatinas, the increase of these companies since 2009 in Argentina, Colombia and Peru is also significant. Likewise, a multilatina from Costa Rica, one from Panama and one from El Salvador entered the BCG list.

Colombia was the country where the multilatinas increased the most with respect to 2009, especially due to the strength of the financial sector.
