SPAIN – According to data from the Houzz Spain Study on Trends in Kitchens 2018, Spaniards spend an average of EUR 7,900 in kitchen renovations at their home and try to adjust to the planned budget and even when it comes to large kitchens the cost of the reform does not exceed the budgeted amount.
According to Houzz, the leading home remodeling and design platform, 79% of respondents cook every day at home, so the need to adapt the space to the needs and comfort of individuals is understandable.
People between 35 and 54 are the ones who invest the most money in the renovation of their kitchen, followed by those over 55, with expenses amounting to € 8,400 and € 6,400, respectively.
The current kitchen seeks to take advantage of every corner to have more cabinets and storage systems, among which the extractable drawers, the organizers of pots and pans and the cutlery trays stand out. Elements to reduce clutter that allow objects to be located easily.
Renewing the countertop is a priority for individuals during the renovation, followed by the change of cabinets and sink. As for materials, individuals between 35 and 45 years old opt for compact quartz when it comes to renovating their countertop.
Another trend that remains is the open kitchen. More than a quarter of the individuals between 25 and 34 years old decided to take advantage of the reform to expand the size of their kitchen. The open plan kitchens are still trending: 43% of individuals opened their kitchen to the living room and 37% to the outside.
