SPAIN – According to ANIEME, during 2017 exports of Spanish furniture exceeded EUR 2,113 million, a 2.4% increase compared to furniture exports registered in 2016.

772ESPANA With the exception of Germany, the main export markets increased their purchases of Spanish furniture.

France, Portugal, Germany and the United Kingdom account for 49% of total Spanish furniture exports, almost half of the total exported, and were the main destinations of Spanish furniture during the year 2017. Especially noteworthy is the growth of the United States (+ 7.3%), which became the fifth destination of Spanish furniture exports. Morocco and Mexico as non-European countries are also among the top ten destinations of Spanish furniture with significant growth of 9.4% and 14.9%, respectively.

Juan Carlos Muñoz, President of ANIEME, stated “With a reduction in the business base of the Spanish furniture sector and a reduced production, the increase in sales of Spanish furniture abroad is a result of the very important effort of the sector’s management to strengthen their export departments and to diversify destinations, traveling to new markets and expanding their distribution channels.”
