Peru imported wooden furniture for USD 56.9 million in 2017

PERU – In 2017 Peruvian imports of wooden furniture totaled USD 56.9 million, a decrease from the previous year that totaled USD 58.7 million.

772PERU The main importers of wooden furniture to Peru were Sodimac with 16.7 million and Homecenters Peruanos through its Promart stores with USD 11.5 million. The consolidated imports of these two home improvement retailers represented 49.4% of imported wooden furniture to Peru.

In 2017 Sodimac imports grew 80.2% compared to 2016, while imports in 2017 of Promart grew 12.5% compared to the previous year. Sodimac and Promart were followed by Saga Falabella with USD 6.6 million (2016: USD 9.4 million) and Tottus Hypermarkets with USD 3.2 million (2016: USD 1.8 million).

Brazil was by far the main supplying country in 2017 with USD 38.8 million, which represented 68.1% of the total imports in the year. Followed by China with USD 6.1 million and Malaysia with USD 1.7 million.
