U.S. – The Forest Stewardship Council, the world’s leading forest certification system, announced its 2017 FSC Leadership Awards in a celebration at Greenbuild.

The award shines a light on people, companies and buildings that are breaking new ground and promoting responsible forest management.

Arauco North America was one of the winners for investing approximately USD 400 million in a new FSC-certified particleboard mill in Grayling, Michigan – along with nine other certified mills in North America – to meet demand from its customers, notably IKEA with its goal of 100% FSC-certified or recycled inputs for forest products by 2020.

Arauco is among 16 organizations and individuals to earn this year’s Leadership Awards from the FSC, the world’s leading forest certification system. “We were astounded by the accomplishments of our award winners this year,” said Corey Brinkema, president of the Forest Stewardship Council US. “By building the market for FSC products, the award winners show we can conserve forests, even as we use forest products in our daily lives.”
