ECUADOR - Promart Homecenter, the renowned Peruvian retail chain, achieved a significant milestone with the opening of its inaugural store in Ecuador last December 2023.

This global expansion, supported by a substantial investment from Intercorp, marks a significant move for the company. Specializing in a diverse range of home products, hardware, appliances, and furniture, Promart Homecenter positions itself as a comprehensive choice for Ecuadorian consumers. The new facility, situated on Francisco de Orellana Avenue near Mall del Norte, operates seven days a week. 

The store's investment totals USD 30 million, covering land acquisition, construction, and equipment. It will create 200 job positions, including administrative roles in Quito and staff for the new location. Jorge Marcos Sans, CEO of Promart Homecenter, announced plans for upcoming establishments in Quito, with two plots of land already secured and designs in progress for both locations. "Our plan is to open these two new positions in the last quarter of 2024. Subsequently, our aim is to introduce two stores per year, reaching a total of 20, with an annual investment of around USD 60 million in various cities," he explained.

The news of Promart's entry into Ecuador was announced in February 2023 by Verónica Valdez, the chain's general manager. Notably, this is not Intercorp's first investment in Ecuador, with the Peruvian group already present since 2018 after acquiring the pharmaceutical company Quicorp. Jorge Marcos Sans, the general manager of Promart Homecenter's Ecuador division, shared his vision for the chain's expansion, highlighting their success in gaining a 34% market share in Peru's home improvement sector within a decade of operation.
