NETHERLANDS - Ikea, founded in Sweden in 1943, with more than 420 stores in more than 50 markets worldwide, will open its first store in Colombia in April next year, which will be located in the Mall Plaza shopping center in Bogota, according to Mall & Retail.
The second store will open in 2024 and will be located in the Viva Envigado shopping center, in the south of the Aburrá Valley, and the third will be in Mallplaza Cali.
Further south, two IKEA stores in South America will be opened in the second half of 2022 in Santiago, Chile, in the Open Kennedy shopping center in Las Condes and in Mall Plaza Oeste in Cerrillos.
These openings are part of the investment plan that this company has together with the Chilean group Falabella in Latin America, which includes the opening of 9 stores in Chile, Colombia and Peru within a period of 9 years, in addition to having an e-commerce platform in each one.
Planned investments for these openings will be close to USD 600 million.
