GERMANY - Last year, Rehau's Raukantex evo edge band received ISCC Plus certification at the company's headquarters, providing clear proof of the origin and supply chain of the raw materials used.
The annual recertification was conducted in August. Additionally, the initial certification was achieved at the Visbek plant in September.
This development signifies that edges produced at Rehau's European factory locations now carry the prestigious international quality seal. In the future, not only industrial customers but also those seeking sustainable edge options in small quantities will find them in standard collections.
Rehau has made a clear commitment to resource conservation, sustainable production, and keeping raw materials in circulation. The company is dedicated to offering customers sustainable alternatives to traditional edgebands. Rehau has introduced two product lines, Raukantex eco and Raukantex evo, each addressing the sustainability theme differently. While Raukantex eco incorporates 50% post-industrial recycled materials, Raukantex evo utilizes polymers that do not rely on fossil raw materials in their production. Daniel Elfe-Degel, the sustainability officer for the division and a team leader in product management at Rehau Interior Solutions, emphasizes, "It is essential for us that our sustainability lines meet the same high quality standards. Our customers should not have to compromise on appearance, hygiene, or processing."
To uphold the high standard, annual inspections are required. In August, Raukantex evo received successful recertification at the Rehau site. Just a month later, the ABS edgebands at the Visbek plant also earned the coveted sustainability seal.
