Argentina main export market for Chilean plastic edgebands in 2016

CHILE - In 2016 Argentina surpassed Colombia as the main external market for Chilean plastic edgebands.

Exports of Chilean plastic edgebands to Argentina totaled USD 1,015,361 in 2016, a 2.9% growth against exports of USD 986,790 reached in 2015. This against a sharp drop of 29.5% in Chile’s plastic edgeband exports to Colombia as they reached USD 974,010 in 2016 against USD 1,380,771 of 2015.

In 2016 Ecuador was the fastest growing market for, rising from USD 402,136 in 2015 to USD 799,265, representing a growth of 98.8%. In 2016 Mexico appears for the first time as a destination market of Chilean edges with shipments of USD 304,815.

In consolidated 2016 figures, Chilean edgebands exports grew 4.7% to USD 4,376,210 compared to USD 4,177,857 in 2015. In terms of weight, growth was 25.0% going from 931,487 kg in 2015 to 1,164,459 kg in 2016.
