PERU - In the first quarter (1Q) of 2018 Peruvian imports of particleboard / MDP amounted to USD 14.3 million, which represented a significant drop of 13.8% compared to the same period of 2017 (USD 16.6 million).

In spite of presenting a strong drop of 17.1% in the first quarter of 2018, Ecuador remained as the main supplying country of particleboard / MDP to the important Peruvian market with USD 5.6 million (2017: USD 6.7 million).

Followed by Chile, with USD 4.4 million (2017: USD 6 million), Spain with USD 2.6 million and Brazil with USD 1.6 million.

The main importing company in the first quarter of 2018 was Novopan Peru with USD 5.5 million (2017: USD 6.5 million) and a 38.3% share the total imports of particleboard / MDP in the country in the 1Q-2018. Followed by Grupo Martin with USD 2.5 million, which represented 17.5% of total imported in the period.

Arauco Peru was the importer with biggest drop, from USD 3.2 million registered in the 1Q-2017 to USD 2 million in the 1Q-2018 (-38.9%).
