BRAZIL - February was a good month for exporters from Rio Grande do Sul, one of Brazil’s major furniture producing states.

February furniture exports expanded almost 30% compared to a month earlier, to USD 14.2 million according to the Market Intelligence Institute (IEMI) as reported by the Association of Furniture Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (MOVERGS).

This increase mirrors the trend nationwide as total February exports jumped to USD 53 million.

Rio Grande do Sul is Brazil’s second largest furniture exporter state behind Santa Catarina, and accounted for 27% of all furniture exports in February. The main export markets for exporters in Rio Grande do Sul State were the United Kingdom, with 16% of export values for January and February, followed by Uruguay and Peru with 15% participation each.
